Ninth Letter is a literary magazine from the graduate and undergraduate art and creative writing departments at the University of Illinois. What’s cool about this magazine is that they merge creative writing with other mediums - especially technology and visual art. They are one of the few literary magazines I know that post audio essays via podcast as well as videos about lesser-known artists. They are also the only literary magazine I know that formats each essay and story within its own artistic format. I like that sometimes Ninth Letter falls short of perfection - sometimes the podcasts aren’t spoken in the right tone, sometimes the art accompanying the essays fails to ‘wow’ me - but the reason I love this magazine is that it never fails to streach my ideas about art’s boundaries, and when it succeds in merging visual art with the written piece, the effect can be pretty astonishing. http://ninthletter.com/
